Businesses and Organisations

Knowledge Transfer is about being able to transfer the knowledge, skills and information housed within universities into businesses and organisations in order for them to become more efficient and competitive within their chosen market place.  It is also about transferring the knowledge and ideas from businesses back into universities to ensure that graduates are leaving university with the right qualifications, experiences and attitudes to work.

There is a wealth of expertise and services housed within UCLan that businesses and organisations can tap in to.

Some of the services and support businesses can obtain from UCLan include:

  • Accreditation of current in-house training programmes to UCLan standards
  • Single company qualifications tailored to your organisation, including part-time postgraduate diplomas, NVQ´s and accredited modules
  • Partnership approach to funding applications
  • Use of academics as expert consultants
  • Use of students and researchers to help exploit new products, new markets etc
  • Networking opportunities through business events

In order to support the services on offer there are a number of projects and initiatives that businesses and organisations can get involved with these include:

  • Providing placement and project opportunities for students
  • Provide business input on to academic courses to ensure relevance to your changing industry
  • Provide research opportunities for academic and research staff within UCLan
  • Specific business related projects to support various sectors, e.g. call & contact centres, small to medium enterprises and creative businesses to name a few.
